Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 15 October 2026
HelpMe has zero tolerance for any content or behaviour involving child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE), in any form. HelpMe complies with the child safety laws that apply to the service, in particular Italian and European laws against child sexual abuse, exploitation and child sexual abuse material, and cooperates with the competent authorities. This page describes our safeguards and how to report a concern.
1. HelpMe is for adults
Registration requires a date of birth and our server rejects anyone who states that they are under 18: the check is not only performed in the app. The server also rejects registrations without a date of birth. This is a self-declaration; HelpMe does not check identity documents. The app is not designed, promoted or intended for children.
2. Prevention
- Every listing undergoes automated moderation before it becomes visible; doubtful cases are decided by a staff member, and every decision can be reviewed by a person.
- In the app, you can report listings, people (a listing author, people who reply, group activity participants, the other person in a one-to-one chat), individual messages, including in group chats, and reviews you receive. You can block a listing author and the other person in a one-to-one chat. While a group activity is open, its organiser can remove a participant.
- Every report reaches staff with an alert. An open listing reported by three different people leaves the feed until staff review it. When a message is reported, staff can read a copy of the message and the surrounding messages, normally kept for 6 months. Rule violations may lead to content removal, suspension or account closure, with re-registration blocked for the same email address or phone number.
- HelpMe does not verify the identity, references or criminal records of registered people. When assisting children or older people, follow the safety advice in the Community Guidelines.
3. How to report
Anyone who encounters or suspects content or behaviour involving children can report it:
- in the app, using “Report” on a listing's details, on people who reply or participate, in the header of a one-to-one chat, or by long-pressing a message;
- by emailing support@helpmeapp.pro — a person, not a bot, will reply.
4. Response to reports
Every report made in the app reaches staff. For cases involving children, also email support@helpmeapp.pro with the subject “Child Safety”: we read these emails first, within 24 hours. If content is found to involve child abuse or exploitation, the account is removed and we report confirmed child sexual abuse material to the Italian Postal and Communications Police (National Centre for Combating Online Child Pornography, CNCPO) and, where the law requires it, to other competent authorities. In these cases we keep the evidence beyond 6 months, for as long as necessary, and staff check at least once a year whether it is still needed.
